On March 26, 2026, it was officially announced that the BASF (Guangdong) Integrated Base, the first wholly foreign-owned large-scale petrochemical integrated project in China, has been fully put into operation, with 18 sets of devices and 32 production lines successfully put into production, producing more than 70 kinds of products, including silicone intermediates and high-performance silicone materials. The full operation of the base will effectively supplement the domestic supply capacity of high-end silicone products and ease the tight supply pattern of specialty silicone in the market.
It is understood that the BASF Guangdong Integrated Base has a total investment of more than 100 billion RMB, with a designed annual production capacity of 600,000 tons of ethylene and supporting downstream products, including a large-scale silicone production line with an annual capacity of 100,000 tons. The base focuses on producing high-end silicone products such as electronic-grade silicone oil, medical-grade silicone rubber, and new energy-specific silicone materials, which are widely used in new energy vehicles, electronics, medical care, and other fields. Industry experts point out that the full operation of the base will not only enrich the domestic supply of high-end silicone products but also promote the upgrading of the domestic silicone industry and enhance the global competitiveness of China’s silicone industry.
