Fumed Silica Price Hikes Expand; Silicone Rubber Manufacturer
Keywords: Fumed silica, price increase, silicone rubber, reinforcing filler, cost transmission
Following the general price increase of 500 yuan/ton by multiple fumed silica manufacturers on April 7, more producers issued price adjustment notices on April 8, and the price hike trend further spread across the industry.
Fumed silica is an indispensable reinforcing filler for high-performance silicone rubber, silicone fluids, and high-grade sealants, and its cost accounts for a relatively high proportion in the production of silicone rubber compounds.
Industry calculations show that this round of continuous price increases has directly pushed up the production cost of silicone rubber by
1.2% to 1.8%.
In response to the rapid rise in raw material costs:
-
Most large and medium-sized silicone rubber compound factories have begun to notify downstream customers of upcoming price adjustments.
-
Small manufacturers with weak cost control and low profit margins are facing greater operational pressure, and some have even chosen to reduce operating load temporarily.
It is expected that in the next 1–3 working days, the price of silicone rubber compounds will be fully adjusted accordingly to realize cost transmission.
