Food-grade liquid silicone is a core material for the European food processing and kitchenware industries, and its product safety and stability are highly valued by EU regulators. On May 18, 2026, Shenzhen Hongyejie officially adjusted the prices of its full line of food-grade platinum cured liquid silicone exported to the EU, with a price increase range of 12% to 25% based on different hardness, viscosity and performance grades.
Different from ordinary industrial silicone, food-grade addition silicone requires high-purity platinum catalyst and high-quality methanol-based raw materials to meet FDA and LFGB standards. Since the beginning of 2026, the global supply of platinum has continued to tighten, pushing catalyst costs up significantly. Meanwhile, ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East have disrupted the methanol supply chain and caused sharp price swings. In addition, the continuous increase of industrial power bills has further raised the production cost of food-grade silicone.
To guarantee the food safety and physical properties of products, Hongyejie refuses to reduce raw material standards to cut costs. The company has improved R&D efficiency and adopted large-scale raw material stocking strategies to control comprehensive costs, but the effect is limited. Therefore, the price adjustment is inevitable. At present, all products still maintain strict food safety certifications and stable physical indicators to fully meet the production demands of EU food enterprises.
