GB 4806.16-2025, China’s first standalone food-grade silicone standard, will be enforced on September 2, 2026. It tightens limits on lead (≤1 mg/kg), arsenic (≤0.5 mg/kg), VOC (≤10 mg/kg), and high-temperature/acidity migration, replacing the 2016 rubber standard. Non-compliant products will be banned domestically and for export. Currently, only ~35% of silicone factories have finished full compliance upgrades (formula, testing, clean workshops), while small producers face exit risks. Hongye Silicone completed upgrades 18 months ago: 100,000-level clean workshops, full third-party testing, and all food-grade lines (baby nipple, baking mold, food-grade LSR) certified to the new standard.
