Detailed Application Scenarios
Handicraft Printing Application
HY-901 economy grade pad printing silicone is widely used in the handicraft industry for logo, pattern and text printing on resin figurines, plaster crafts, ceramic crafts, wooden crafts, glass crafts, metal crafts and various other handicraft products. The handicraft industry features a wide variety of product types and diverse shapes, but most products have flat or slightly curved printing surfaces that do not require extremely soft pad heads, and the 23A general hardness of HY-901 fully meets these requirements.
Handicraft printing typically involves small batch sizes with many product varieties and frequent product changes, requiring low pad head production costs and high production efficiency. HY-901 offers affordable pricing with low production costs, suitable for small batch and multi variety production models. The 100:2 mixing ratio is simple to operate, allowing beginners to quickly get started, and room temperature curing in 2-4 hours enables same day production and use, providing high efficiency for product changes. Additionally, HY-901 provides uniform ink transfer, producing clear patterns with full colors that meet the decorative appearance requirements of handicraft products. For budget conscious handicraft manufacturers, HY-901 is an ideal cost effective choice.
Gift Printing Application
In the gift industry, HY-901 is used for logo and promotional message printing on advertising gifts, promotional gifts, business gifts, holiday gifts, commemorative gifts and various other gift products. The gift industry is characterized by typically small order quantities, but customers have high requirements for logo printing clarity and accuracy, as the logo directly represents the customer brand image. Gift printing surfaces are usually flat or slightly curved, such as thermos cup bodies, notebook covers, pen barrels, keychains, USB drive housings and similar items, and the general hardness of HY-901 adapts well to these products.
Pad heads made from HY-901 provide stable ink transfer performance, producing logos with sharp edges, clear lines and uniform colors, without blurring, faintness or missing print issues, perfectly presenting the customer brand identity. Additionally, HY-901 offers affordable pricing, providing very low comprehensive usage costs for the small batch and multi variety order model typical of the gift industry. Gift orders often have tight delivery schedules, and HY-901 is available from stock with same day shipment, while pad head production is simple and fast, helping customers quickly respond to urgent orders. For advertising gift companies and promotional product suppliers, HY-901 is both economical and practical pad printing silicone product.
Application and Operation Instructions
Step 1: Preparation
Prepare HY-901 Part A (silicone) and Part B (curing agent), digital scale (0.1g precision), stirring rod, vacuum degassing chamber, pad head mold, release agent, nitrile gloves and other tools. Ensure the mold is clean and dry, apply a thin uniform layer of release agent inside the mold and let it dry for 10 minutes.
Step 2: Weighing and Mixing
Accurately weigh Part A and Part B by weight ratio 100:2. For example, take 100g Part A and add 2g Part B. Use a digital scale with precision of at least 0.1g, control ratio error within ±0.1g, as inaccurate ratio directly affects curing results and pad head service life.
Step 3: Stirring
Stir Part A and Part B thoroughly for 3-5 minutes. Scrape the bottom and side walls of the container during stirring to ensure silicone at the bottom and walls is also uniformly mixed, avoiding local incomplete curing. Stir gently to avoid introducing excessive bubbles. The mixed silicone should have uniform color without obvious streaks or color difference.
Step 4: Vacuum Degassing
Place the mixed silicone in a vacuum degassing chamber and degas for 5-8 minutes at -0.09MPa negative pressure until no more bubbles rise to the surface. Degassing is a critical step to ensure pad head quality. Insufficient degassing causes internal pores in pad heads, resulting in missing prints and pinholes during printing, seriously affecting printing results and pad head life.
Step 5: Mold Pouring
Slowly pour the degassed silicone along the side wall of the prepared pad head mold. Pour from one side and let the silicone flow naturally to avoid creating new bubbles. Fill slightly above the mold level as silicone will shrink slightly during curing, ensuring full sized pad heads after curing.
Step 6: Curing and Demolding
Cure at room temperature (25°C) for 2-4 hours. Confirm full curing by gently pressing the pad head surface, then demold carefully. Peel slowly from the mold edge, avoid excessive pulling that may cause deformation or tearing. It is recommended to let the demolded pad head rest for 24 hours before use to allow silicone properties to reach optimal state for more stable printing results.

Precautions
Wear nitrile gloves during operation to avoid direct skin contact with uncured silicone and curing agent. Avoid contact with substances containing tin, sulfur, amines and similar materials as these may inhibit silicone curing, resulting in uncured or sticky pad heads. Stir Part A and Part B separately before use. Weighing must be accurate as excessive ratio deviation affects curing results. Mixing must be uniform including bottom and walls, otherwise local incomplete curing may occur. Recommended curing temperature between 15-35°C, lower temperatures extend curing time, higher temperatures shorten operation time. Maintain ventilation in the operating area and avoid inhaling volatile gases.
Storage
Store products in a cool and dry place at storage temperature 5-30°C, avoid direct sunlight and high temperature environments. Shelf life 12 months unopened, use as soon as possible after opening. Reseal immediately after each use, especially Part B curing agent is moisture sensitive and contact with moisture in air causes failure affecting curing results. Refrigerated storage can extend shelf life, but allow to return to room temperature before use to avoid condensation water affecting product performance.
FAQ
Q1: What is the difference between HY-901 economy grade and other models? How should I choose?
A1: HY-901 is our economy general purpose model with 23A hardness and the most affordable price, suitable for flat or slightly curved surface general printing in small and medium batch production. If your products are flat signs, buttons, packaging boxes, regular gift items or similar regular shapes, HY-901 is fully sufficient with the highest cost performance. If your products require multi color overprinting, choose HY-912; if you have high volume automated production lines, choose HY-902 high wear grade; if you have large curvature irregular curved surfaces, choose HY-916 super soft grade. In simple terms: use 901 for flat surfaces, 912 for multi color, 902 for high volume, 916 for curved surfaces.
Q2: HY-901 is so affordable, will the quality be poor?
A2: Although HY-901 is affordably priced, the quality is fully guaranteed. The low price is because this is our base model with large production volume, mature formula and low production cost, combined with factory direct pricing that eliminates middleman margins, making it more than 50% cheaper than imported brands. HY-901 has tensile strength ≥3.0MPa, tear strength ≥12kN/m and elongation ≥300%, with stable physical properties and pad head service life of 50,000 to 80,000 prints, fully meeting most general pad printing requirements. Every batch undergoes rigorous testing before shipment with COA reports provided, ensuring reliable quality. You can apply for free samples to test first, and place bulk orders after satisfactory testing.
Q3: The silicone does not cure after mixing, or the surface is sticky after curing, what is the problem?
A3: Silicone not curing or having a sticky surface usually has several causes: First, insufficient Part B curing agent addition or inaccurate weighing, incorrect ratio leads to incomplete curing, always weigh accurately at the 100:2 ratio. Second, uneven mixing, especially silicone at the container bottom and walls not being properly mixed, causes local incomplete curing, always scrape the bottom and walls and stir thoroughly for 3-5 minutes. Third, contact with curing inhibiting substances such as tin, sulfur or amine containing materials, for example using tin containing containers or tools, ensure operating tools and containers are clean. Fourth, expired or improperly stored curing agent, Part B should be stored sealed and used within shelf life. You can check these causes one by one, and if the problem persists, contact our technical team for assistance.
